On August 24, 2012, at 12:10AM, my grandfather passed away. He was a doctor in my hometown of Fairfield for more than 50 years. When the town heard of the news of his passing, they were shocked. They knew it was an end of an era. To honor him, the mayor of Fairfield lowered the flag to half mast because “It’s what’s right.”
